About Explorer Scouts
Blue Boar Explorer Scout Unit (ESU) is the 4th Section of Scouting in St Clears. The unit is managed by the Carmarthenshire Area and works in partnership with 2nd St Clears Scout Group to provide scouting to young people aged 14-18 in Carmarthenshire.
Being an Explorer with Blue Boar ESU sees young people have a wider range of opportunities and chances, in turn allowing them to develop and hone the skills they have gained throughout previous sections of Scouting, as well as develop new skills including in the outdoors. We like to put our Explorers skills and knowledge to the test, in the form of amazing expeditions, camps, during regular weekly meetings. Explorers undertake a range of badges, challenges and awards which will test their teamwork, leadership, ability to go back to basics on expeditions and survival camps. All the while Explorers are encouraged to work as a team, to develop their leadership skills and help in their community.

Similarly to the other sections of Scouting, Explorers have 15 staged activity badges which could have up to and beyond 6 different stages. The Explorer will then receive a badge for each stage of the activity they complete. Some of these badges include: Paddle Sports, Swimmer, Musician and Nights Away.
